Individual Therapy
My approach is relational and insight-oriented. That means we use your relationships — including the therapeutic relationship itself — to explore your thoughts, emotions, patterns and history, so you can understand yourself more clearly and live with greater self-direction.
Often what makes a problem unbearable isn't the problem itself — it's the lack of meaning behind it. When you don't know why you feel so intensely, why you think the way you do, or why you keep falling into the same patterns, you start to feel lost. Therapy is a space to make sense of that.
The things that plague us are so often the things we imagine to be unacceptable to others — too much, not enough, unlovable, too anxious. So a lot of the work is your relationship with yourself: how you handle difficult emotions, how you respond to your own needs, and how you live with the tension between who you are and who you feel you should be.
But insight isn't always sufficient. You can understand exactly why something is a problem and still not know what to do about it. So alongside the deeper work, I offer practical tools, drawing on CBT, schema therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and EMDR. Much of it is grounded in mindfulness — bringing awareness to the patterns of thought, emotion and sensation that run outside your conscious control.
